C1338 True Spirit World

C1338 True Spirit World

0"That's correct," Wu Tumie stated gravely, "After that enigmatic force decimated the living strength of my Sky Origin Temple, they didn't completely wipe us out. Instead, most were demoted to the status of blood slaves or servants. Once they had stripped the continent of its resources, the majority of their high-ranking members departed. Only a handful with lesser talents remained to govern. During that time, the continent was plunged into a dark age, with entire races being slaughtered indiscriminately, as if they were no more than pigs or dogs. Their deeds were even more heinous than those of the Demon Force. Bereft of any power to resist, the continent was left at their mercy.

As time passed, the mysterious invaders from beyond the heavens began to withdraw, and the continent slowly started to recover. Yet, the aftermath was devastating: most of the living beings had been eradicated, the spiritual energy of the land was depleted, and the treasures that once nurtured talent were gone. From the thriving Ancient Times, where numerous Emperor Level beings once existed, we fell into decline. The birth of new Emperor Level individuals became a rarity, and even advancing to Emperor Level was enough to dominate a region.

A few survivors from my Sky Origin Temple pieced together the information and intelligence left by this mysterious force and reached a startling conclusion. This force was not native to the Tianyuan Continent but hailed from a higher plane—the True Spirit World. To them, our continent was merely an incomplete, minor world, akin to the relationship between the Tianyuan Secret Realm and the Tianyuan Continent itself. This force was a formidable presence even in the True Spirit World, boasting several beings of strength surpassing the Emperor Level.

They were the Demon Essence Race, a brutal and savage species unlike our own, whose primary cultivation method involved the consumption and refinement of the blood essence of countless living creatures. Although the Demon Essence Race's mighty have left the Tianyuan Continent, their grip on our world has never waned. Since the Ancient Times, they have maintained control, descending periodically. While they may occasionally show mercy to other powers, warriors, and races, their dominance remains unchallenged."

For the Sky Origin Temple, especially its core members, the rule was clear: they must be eliminated. The Temple had been destroyed at its zenith, and the enmity between the factions ran as deep as the ocean, with neither side willing to rest until the other was annihilated. Moreover, the Sky Origin Temple possessed an Emperor Level legacy, making it the only entity on the continent with the potential to harness the power to resist and to cultivate an Emperor Level warrior. Given these factors, the possibility of mercy was out of the question.

"So, Nephew Lin, are you still willing to become the Holy Son of the Sky Origin Temple?" Wu Tumie asked, unveiling a brutal and shocking piece of history to Lin Xuan. His final words were delivered with a gaze that turned serious and icy, piercing through Lin Xuan.

Lin Xuan's expression grew profoundly solemn. He had never imagined that such a dark chapter existed in the history of the Tianyuan Continent. Had Wu Tumie not brought it up, he might never have encountered it in any historical records. The Demon Essence Race was devoid of humanity, their brutality knew no bounds. It was no wonder that the prosperity of Ancient Times had vanished as quickly as a shooting star, succumbing to rapid decline. All of it was the doing of the Demon Essence Race, a force far more formidable than Lin Xuan had ever conceived. They boasted not only Supreme Level warriors but also higher-level entities of terror.

Lin Xuan realized that he would likely be unable to stand against them for a considerable time to come. Furthermore, he learned that the Tianyuan Continent was not the pinnacle; above it lay an even greater realm, the True Spirit World. The path of martial arts did not end with the Tianyuan Continent; there was still a long journey ahead. Yet, with the fall of the Sky Origin Temple, the Tianyuan Continent had fallen under the control of the Demon Essence Race, leaving no avenue for escape. Given the nature of the Demon Essence Race, liberation for the beings of the Tianyuan Continent was an impossibility.

Upon hearing this, Lin Xuan felt his worldview expand, only for his spirits to plummet once more. The glimmer of hope he had seen was quickly extinguished by the vast chasm that lay before him. How could one bear such an overwhelming disparity?

Wu Tumie's final words, along with the abrupt shift in his previously unseen cold and stern demeanor, left a chilling impression.

Lin Xuan came to a stark realization.

"Uncle Master, I remain committed to serving as the Holy Son of the Sky Origin Temple and striving for its resurgence!" he declared, bowing with his hands clasped in a gesture of respect.

He understood that he had no choice but to accept.

Should he refuse, Lin Xuan sensed that the other party might resort to violence immediately.

The subtle shift in their demeanor said it all.

His previously revealed talents were simply too exceptional.

As previously mentioned, possessing Middle Grade Supreme Level aptitude far exceeded the standards of the current era.

Even during the Ancient Times, when martial prowess was at its peak, only a select few could claim the status of core disciples within the Sky Origin Temple.

An individual of such caliber, if not harnessed for their own purposes, would not be easily dismissed.

One should not be misled by the Sky Origin Temple's name; it does not imply an inherently righteous force.

A truly righteous force is nearly impossible to find.

The martial path is universal; the difference lies in the methods, which are not as radical or brutal as those of the Demon Force.

Using underhanded tactics is, unfortunately, rather commonplace.

Furthermore, the Sky Origin Temple has been in ruins for countless years.

The individual before him was no longer the lofty expert of the Sky Origin Temple but had become an Indestructible Puppet.

This person had previously treated him with kindness, bestowing upon him various treasures, including the complete Emperor Level Treasure, the Celestial Essence Sacred Token.

They even shared tales of the unrecorded Dark Era.

Having invested so much, they would not simply stand by and watch Lin Xuan's refusal undo all their efforts, shattering their hopes.

Lin Xuan even suspected that a rejection would prompt an immediate hostile response, possibly leading to his capture.

For instance, he could be turned into an Indestructible Puppet.

There was always a purpose for such beings.

Although he had strategies in place, relying on his spatial talent to escape through teleportation, it wasn't a guaranteed escape.

Having mastered the Tianyuan Secret Realm for ages, his adversary likely had measures to counteract spatial teleportation.

The opponent's capabilities extended far beyond the apparent Half-level Emperor status.

From the attribute panel, it was evident that many martial arts had been mastered to an exceptional depth. The profound insights he had grasped were beyond the reach of someone at the early stages of the Emperor Level. His primary cultivation technique even surpassed the Emperor Level, reaching the Supreme Level tier. This suggested that he was likely not just a Half-level Emperor but a formidable force at the late Emperor Level. For reasons unknown, his cultivation had plummeted to that of a Half-level Emperor.

Such a being was not someone he could confront, and even the Jade Dragon Empress might struggle to match him. If Lin Xuan were to become adversarial, he would be utterly outmatched. The time to consider confrontation was not now, but in the future, when he had amassed enough power. After briefly pondering, Lin Xuan responded and accepted the terms, aware that this might draw the ire of an even more fearsome adversary.
