Chapter 3719: Capture

Chapter 3719: Capture

1Chapter 3719: Capture

The Origin Progenitor struck from above with his Verdant Arsenal, driving back the divine energy and striking Yong Heng with enough force to blast him deep underground.

Yong Heng looked up, and as his sword images shattered, he chose to use the power of time before vanishing.

At that moment, Lightstream flickered, reversing time by one second and returning Yong Heng to where he had been standing. In front of him, Lu Yin wielded a Wheel of Karma that lashed out. He attacked with a fusion of power and karma, aiming to not only grievously wound Yong Heng, but also to see the man’s karma.

Yong Heng watched as Lu Yin approached him, a terrifying depth to his eyes.

Never before had Lu Yin directly fought Yong Heng in this manner. From the moment that Lu Yin had learned of True God’s existence, this was his first full-power direct attack, and it contained all of the physical power he was capable of mobilizing. While such an attack had once been countered by the High Seraph, the High Seraph was the High Seraph while Yong Heng was Yong Heng.

Lu Yin’s palm drew closer and closer as he locked eyes with Yong Heng. Their gazes were like vast universes that sought to devour the other.

A vast sea of sequence particles suddenly gathered around Yong Heng, and Lu Yin heard only two words: “Dao Convergence.”

Boom!

A deafening impact echoed out, though whether the sound came from the universe itself or from his own body, Lu Yin did not know. His head shook, and the very next instant, his palm slammed into Yong Heng, sending the man flying.

A trickle of blood leaked from the corner of Yong Heng’s mouth. He had been struck by Lu Yin’s attack, but the Wheel of Karma had been dispersed.

Lu Yin stared blankly at the dispersing karma, and his eyes flickered.

Aside from when he had faced the supreme expert Master Qing Cao, who was an Immortal, this was the second time that anyone had ever taken one of his karmic attacks head-on.

The first was the High Seraph, who had used Dominion’s Mantle to block Lu Yin’s karmic attack.

Yong Heng was the second.

Was it the power of his sequence particles? How had Yong Heng dispersed karma with sequence particles?

Lu Yin sensed something that was reminiscent of the High Seraph’s Everlasting Will; when an individual cultivated their sequence particles to the limit, they could achieve a Transcended Sequence, which would possess similar properties to a sequence base.

While Lu Yin’s palm strike had succeeded in injuring Yong Heng, True God’s own physical strength was incredible, and such a wound was not serious. What Yong Heng feared the most was the power of karma. Unless he faced something as threatening as karma, there would have been no other reason for Yong Heng to unleash so many sequence particles.

Some distance away, Sovereign Dou Sheng and the others who had initially attacked Yong Heng had become entangled with the meteorite. The rock barreled about, always spinning. Some attacks worked, and others failed.

However, even the blows that did land barely caused any damage at all.

“Lord Lu, are we done cooperating?” Yong Heng cleaned the blood from his lips as he looked at Lu Yin.

The younger man’s eyes were glacial. “If we weren’t, we would have already dealt with the High Seraph inside the Willbound Spire.”

Yong Heng replied with a faint smile, “The High Seraph is no simple foe, and even if we worked together, we still might not be able to do anything to him.”

“That’s still no reason for you to suddenly ambush and try to kill me.” As Lu Yin stepped forward, his consciousness fell in the form of a Skyshearer Millstone.

High in the sky, a terrifying amount of consciousness that surpassed that of almost any conscient formed a Skyshearer Millstone that slammed down. The sudden attack startled the conscients hiding throughout the Willbound Expanse.

Lu Yin’s Skyshearer Millstone was more powerful than even Wu Wei’s, as Lu Yin’s consciousness had grown to surpass almost all of the Thirteen Luminaries. Only Old Chief’s consciousness could rival Lu Yin’s.

Yong Heng was suitably impressed. “Truly spectacular. Since you want to fight with consciousness, then we should include the conscients.”

He then retreated step by step, edging closer to the trap where the Luminaries were besieging the High Seraph.

Lu Yin used Inverse Step to move at the speed of time. His surroundings froze, but for less than a moment.

Everyone on the current battlefield was a supreme expert, and none of them could be restrained by something like Inverse Step.

However, Lu Yin had never intended to attack within the frozen time; it had simply become a habit for him to use Inverse Step.

Yong Heng continued to fall back, and Lu Yin continued his pursuit.

At this moment, there were three separate battlefields within the Willbound Expanse.

The Luminaries had surrounded the High Seraph and were bombarding him.

The people of

Boundless

were besieging the meteorite.

Lu Yin was facing off against Yong Heng.

Of course, there was also Astral Anura.

Behind Yong Heng, Astral Anura held his steel fork. “Ahahaha! Yong Heng, it’s been a long time, but here I come!”

The fork shot forward.

Yong Heng casually swatted the weapon aside and grabbed the toad. “Courting death, are you?”

Astral Anura trembled with fear. He had been completely unwilling to attack Yong Heng, but Lu Yin’s threats had left the toad with no choice but to clench his jaw and charge. Fortunately, he was not alone.

Dong!

The Dao Bell tolled. Yuan Qi had entered the fray.

Yong Heng frowned. Once, the Dao Bell had attacked the Immemorial Citadel, but at this moment, it was being turned against Yong Heng.

Lu Yin can’t actually expect Yuan Qi and Astral Anura to defeat me... They’re only here to buy time.

All he needed was a single instant.

Lu Yin closed in on Yong Heng, releasing his inner universe and his Karmic Dao. Lu Yin unleashed everything that he had.

Figures within the Karmic Dao hurled themselves at Yong Heng like martyrs: Qi Guan, Qi Shangjun, Qi Zun, Qian, the Wraithmother, Golden Roc, You Xia, and more. They were all experts from the Spirit Nidus whom Lu Yin had imprisoned in his Champions’ Stage Purgatory, and they were released to attack Yong Heng.

True God had not expected such a move. While none of his attackers could truly harm him, the sheer numbers meant that he would need a bit of time to deal with them.

High above the crowd of experts, spirals of karma spread out. Lu Yin grabbed a Wheel of Karma. He was determined to see Yong Heng’s karma and learn where the man was truly from.

Lu Yin had never forgotten that, when he had first cooperated with the Origin Progenitor to attack Yong Heng, the man had mentioned something specific: he was a failure.

What did that mean?

Who had created Yong Heng?

Unlike the Origin Progenitor, Yong Heng had long since known about both the Spirit Nidus and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. He had not converted himself into a corpse king, but had rather been born as a corpse king. Only after seizing Tian Ci’s mirebound artifact spirit seed and re-cultivating had True God lost the aura that belonged to corpse kings, though he still possessed a corpse king’s absurd physical strength.

His entire existence was a mystery.

Lu Yin had once asked the Origin Progenitor about Yong Heng’s origins, but even the Origin Progenitor had no answer.

Lu Yin had sensed an enormous secret behind Yong Heng since long ago.

True God looked up as he was besieged by both numerous experts and the unseen power of karma. His hand rose up and formed the edge of a sword. With a flick of his wrist, energy exploded from his fingertips like the slash of a blade. Ripples spread through the void as sequence particles gathered. In a flash, he grabbed the hilt of the sword that he had manifested and swept out.

At that moment, every last expert from the Spirit Nidus who was attacking Yong Heng died.

Qi Guan, You Xia, and all of the others had been imprisoned and tormented in the Champions’ Stage Purgatory perished. The only condition that Lu Yin had given them for them to be released was to kill his enemy, which was why they had just attacked Yong Heng. None of the people had realized that this attack would be the very last one of their lives.

Yong Heng’s sword slash swept out in all directions, scouring the sky and instantly annihilating everything. The attack even targeted Lu Yin, and that bit was reinforced with the incredible power of his Dao Convergence sequence particles, making it unstoppable.

Behind Lu Yin, from the highest layer of his Nine Heavens, Heaven’s Blade appeared. It was a sword of consciousness that cut the result alone, ignoring the process entirely.

The two sword slashes struck each other, shattering. Again, the spirals of karma failed to fall, and they instead scattered from the impact of the two swords.

Yong Heng released the hilt of his sword. In front of him, Lu Yin was staring at him. Neither had managed to gain any advantage over the other in their clash.

In the distance, Astral Anura quivered in fear. This was beyond terrifying, and he felt lucky that he had not charged in with the rest, as he would have undoubtedly died as well. Lu Yin was too ruthless! He was facing Yong Heng, the most unfathomable and powerful cultivator in the entire Tianyuan Megaverse.

Six of the Origin Progenitor’s swords and three other weapons emerged from his Verdant Arsenal to sweep past Lu Yin and attack Yong Heng. These were weapons that the Origin Progenitor had forged in his Verdant Eternity.

Yong Heng raised a hand, and a deep red light swept out: Dominion.

All of the weapons from Verdant Arsonal struck Dominion, driving both the barrier and Yong Heng back, yet Dominion did not shatter.

At that same moment, Lu Yin struck out, attacking with a finger from above: the Dao of One Heavens.

Crack

.

Dominion split apart, and Yong Heng’s expression grew solemn. With Tai Chu reinforcing Lu Yin, Yong Heng was in danger. He fell back yet again, arriving a short distance from the High Seraph. “Lu Yin, do you really believe that you can bury me here?”

“How will I know if I don’t try?” Lu Yin suddenly vanished. He took one step and caused Dominion to suddenly disappear from around True God.

The man’s pupils shrank.

What power is this?

He grabbed his sword again and swept it across the battlefield. However, it simply passed straight through Lu Yin. No, that was not the younger man’s real body.

Even as the sword slashed through the phantom, the illusory Lu Yin continued forward, driving a palm deep into Yong Heng’s torso, leaving a handprint in the man’s back.

This was the second realm of the Wayfinder Sutra: the body moves, yet the mind does not. Lu Yin himself seemed both absent and present in the space. It was not even Lu Yin who actually moved, but Yong Heng, using Dominion.

The Origin Progenitor’s hand crashed down, aiming for Yong Heng’s head.

A smile touched True God’s lips. He casually swung his sword, attacking the Origin Progenitor.

The Origin Progenitor shattered the attack, but then his expression dramatically changed as he suddenly suffered the pressure of an indescribable weight.

What is this?

“Be careful. He isn’t hurt,” the Origin Progenitor warned.

As Lu Yin watched, Yong Heng grabbed his sword yet again and slashed out. “Your secret won’t remain hidden.”

Sword images shattered, but each time one broke, Yong Heng was given a choice of time or direction. Lu Yin’s only option was to have Lightstream flicker about, reversing time by one second in order to widen the gap. Instead of retreating as he had originally, Yong Heng instead charged toward the trap that held the High Seraph. Again, the sword images shattered. Even moving at the speed of time was not enough for Lu Yin to close the distance. Helpless, he brought out the wooden wing. This was something that he had been hoping to save.

The wooden wing allowed Lu Yin to instantly appear beside Xi Wen and the fallen Gui Shaoqing.

It was closer than five meters, and the conscient was instantly Possessed.

Lu Yin’s sudden appearance put Xi Wen on edge. She grabbed Gui Shaoqing and moved back while Old Chief released the Lower Heaven’s Blade. This was a sword of consciousness that severed the process while ignoring the result.

At this moment, no one could be trusted.

Yong Heng suddenly looked over at the Luminaries and shouted, “He can control living creatures! Be careful!”

No one understood what Yong Heng was saying, as everything was happening far too quickly.

At that moment, Gui Shaoqing’s eyes opened. He was still being held by Xi Wen when he released a blast of consciousness that smashed into the other Luminary. She reacted by reflex, and two consciousness clashed, instantly shattering the void and sending Xi Wen stumbling.

That momentary space was all that Lu Yin needed. His mind instantly returned to his own body, and he appeared in front of Xi Wen, arms outstretched. She was captured.

Yong Heng could only sigh. He had still been a step behind. Lu Yin’s reaction speed was truly extraordinary. Yong Heng had merely threatened the younger man, and he had not even decided whether or not to expose Lu Yin’s secret yet. True God had wanted to use that secret as leverage to leave the battlefield. He had never expected Lu Yin to deliberately expose himself just to capture Xi Wen.

Were those three swords of consciousness really that important?

Gui Shaoqing collapsed once again, still unconscious and in the exact same condition as before.

Only then did Old Chief and the other Luminaries comprehend Yong Heng’s warning. They stared at the senseless Gui Shaoqing in a daze; he had just been controlled. There was no doubt about it. Not only that, but he had been controlled by a Tianyuan cultivator.

How was such a thing possible?

Within the trap, the High Seraph was similarly astonished. Not even he had imagined that LuYin had such an ability.

One by one, everyone turned to stare blankly at Lu Yin. He had already stored Xi Wen away and was meeting all of their wary, bloodthirsty eyes. He simply shrugged, as it was time to lay all of his cards on the table. The Origin Progenitor had captured all of the people from the Spirit Nidus, and no matter how formidable the High Seraph might be, he could not overwhelm the combined strength of Lu Yin and Origin Progenitor, and neither could Yong Heng.
